Holy Dude

Bible AI that shows its work

Ask most AI a Bible question and you get a confident paragraph with no way to check it. Ask this one and you get the passage, what's around it, and the reasoning. Then you decide whether it's right.

Answers with the verses attached

The way AI usually goes wrong with scripture isn't heresy. It's a believable paragraph built on a verse that doesn't say that, quoted without the three verses either side that change what it means.

So the reference comes with the answer. Ask why Romans 9 says what it says and you get Romans 9, not a summary of Romans 9. Ask how Genesis 1 and 2 fit together and you get both accounts and the actual options, including the ones that contradict each other.

Six translations, side by side, read out loud

Most confusion about a verse turns out to be a translation difference. Put six of them on the same passage and you can see exactly where they split, which is usually the fastest way to understand why people argue about it.

All of it can be read aloud, whole chapters included. Useful on a commute, or while you're cooking, or at 5am when reading isn't happening.

Verse by verse

Work through a book a passage at a time. Commentary cites its sources and flags where the interpretations split.

Reading plans

Thirty, sixty, ninety days. A full year. Topical plans for grief, anxiety, new fatherhood, doubt, addiction. Miss a week and the plan adjusts instead of guilting you into quitting.

Memorising

Spaced repetition drills, by topic, by book, or following whatever your church is preaching through.

Ask mid-chapter

By voice or text, without leaving the passage you're reading.

The questions people actually ask

Almost nobody searches "exegete Habakkuk". They search the thing underneath a bad week. Those get the same treatment, with the verses:

It'll tell you when it doesn't know

Some questions have a clear answer. Some have two or three defensible ones. Some aren't addressed in scripture at all, and the honest response is to say so rather than manufacture a verse.

You'll also get told, repeatedly, that this is a study tool and not a pastor. It has no soul. It doesn't know God. It can't replace sitting under teaching with other believers. Ask any of them and they'll say exactly that.

Study with a person, not a search box

All of this sits inside a conversation with one of sixteen advisers who remember what you've been reading and what you're carrying.

Ruth walks you through Ruth differently than Hank walks you through Judges. Both will remember you asked about your father last week.

And you can ask any of them to pray with you when a passage lands somewhere tender. That's usually the exact point where a study app stops being any use.

Common questions

Can the AI actually explain Bible verses?

Yes. Ask about a passage and you get the passage itself, the context around it, and the reasoning — with references attached so you can check the claim rather than take it on trust.

Which Bible translations are included?

Six translations, with audio, and you can compare them side by side on the same passage.

Is Holy Dude free?

Yes. The free plan includes 600 messages a month with no credit card required. Paid plans start at $19.99 a month and can be cancelled at any time.

What makes this different from other AI chatbots?

Holy Dude is built around scripture and around getting you offline. The characters are open about being AI with no soul and no real feelings, and they actively push you toward your Bible, your church and real people rather than trying to keep you on the app.

Is it safe for children and teenagers?

Yes. Conversations are screened for self-harm, violence, predatory approaches and contact-sharing attempts, and flagged content is reviewed. There are no ads and your data is never sold.
